Bonita Lynn Vela suspected her daughter’s
boyfriend had molested her 2-year-old son,
so she cut his penis off with a box cutter.
Though she pleaded guilty to the act, she’ll
serve no jail time.

The 35-year-old Indiana woman trapped the
18-year-old male victim in a trailer for more
than three hours, during which time she cut
off his manhood so he would “see a scar
every time he had sex.”

While it sounds like Vela was trying to
protect her brood from a potential sex
offender, she admitted to smoking marijuana
and possibly ingesting other drugs before
the attack, which could’ve impaired her
judgement and perception of the situation.

By pleading guilty to confinement and
battery, Vela was sentenced to 10 months
of home detention, followed by another six
months of probation.
